I truly am humbled and blessed to be a part of this special organization. I give honor to the hard-working leaders who have gone before me in bringing life to this outreach. I do not have a personal history with addiction, but it has touched my life through loved ones in a deeply personal way.
I believe that ALL human beings can experience victory, live lives of self-control and peace, and bring their best selves to their community. I also believe every human being needs a safe place to call home.

I believe addiction touches most people's lives. If not you personally, then with a friend or family member. I know this is true in my own life.

Addiction can be a very lonely place for the person in it and the people around them. I believe everyone deserves second chances and a help-up when life gets you down. When I found Haven Homes it gave me a community I didn't even know I was looking for.

Bio

I have the great privilege of being a father of 3 and a grandfather of 11. Over the past 42 years I have been a contractor, business owner, and enjoyed serving my community in various ways. Through these years, I have seen and personally felt the pain and destruction of individuals and families caught up in addiction. I have found that when someone really desires to live in sobriety and the freedom that is available to them, it not only changes their life but it changes the lives of all the people around them.

I have spent 20 years of my life in active addiction... I was born and raised in Alaska, and I moved down to Oregon in 2009 because I thought if I changed my environment, then I would stop using drugs and be able to get better.

But everywhere you go there, you are, so my addiction took hold of me again and I found myself homeless on the streets of Portland.

It is an honor and a privilege to serve on this team. Although I do not have a personal experience with addictions, I have mentored and walked along with several women who have found themselves homeless due to their addictions and the choices they made. These women were able to get into recovery programs and have changed their lives – getting jobs, and eventually their own homes and sense of well-being.

"Haven Homes has been a wonderful place to help me stay clean and sober. There is an amazing management team that really cares and believes in me. They push me forward to be a better person every day. I'm also really grateful to live in a place where my roommates support each other in our recovery and help each other to move forward as well. I'm truly blessed."
